The Internet has changed the way humans see the world. Once upon a time, human interaction was deemed necessary for all of life’s events, including tutoring sessions. The Internet has made distance an irrelevant matter; today you can maintain contact with anyone in the world as long as you have an Internet connection and email. Along this route, educational changes have taken place, with learning via distance education as the new route by which students gain knowledge, pass classes, and receive their degrees for life in the working world. While convenience is a benefit of online tutoring, there are several others.

One benefit of online tutoring is that it allows students to pursue academic help out of the presence of their peers. Students battle peer pressure and often refuse to seek tutoring because they think they will look silly in front of their classmates. If you have a student with an ego who never wants to show his or her vulnerable side, the student will not want anyone else to know about the tutoring help he or she receives on a daily basis. Internet tutoring allows the student to pursue needed help without concern over his or her peers. The ridicule often serves as a deterrent, but Internet tutoring removes this threat.

Another benefit of online tutoring is that students can multitask their Internet classes with the rest of their life. It is no secret that today’s students are busy with a number of things: work, school, family, religious activities, extracurricular activities, social clubs, and social networking. Many students are working at least one job, if not more, in order to help provide for their families and support themselves through school. Internet classes relieve students of the burden to attend classes at an on-campus site while needing to work during the day. Students can then earn the income they need while earning necessary academic credit to graduate and obtain degrees. The degrees will help project the student into an occupation that will allow the student to make the kind of income he or she needs.

Lastly, online tutoring benefits students because it allows them to have one-on-one time with their instructors. In a traditional classroom setting back about 12 years ago, students did not have the luxury of Internet tutoring. Struggling students met with teachers in their classrooms, after school, along with at least ten to fifteen other students who were also struggling with a given subject. Teachers would consume two or three hours-sometimes more-with students who desperately needed their help. Today, students can chat with teachers online in a format where a teacher can help one student at a time.

Growing Stars offers an online tutoring service devoted to helping students learn and achieve their goals. To experience a taste of this national acclaim and tutoring excellence, visit GrowingStars.com for more details

Cast your mind back to when you started your degree… okay; now think about the word count of your essays. They were small, weren’t they? About 2,000 words? Now think about your second year… your workload increased from your first year, didn’t it? So naturally, in your final year, your workload should trump that of your first year, which is the natural progression of any degree. You have been studying your degree, for a number of years and in order to graduate, you must be able to convince your university that you can demonstrate authority over a topic of your choice and needs. Just think of your dissertation as an extended essay, which is different from a thesis. Many people get these two terms confused, a thesis is your idea, and the dissertation is the document that supports your thesis. A dissertation should show that you have a throughout grasp of the appropriate techniques and methodologies – this is what your degree, undergraduate or postgraduate has been building up to.

Alas, do not be daunted by your word-count, as most people who have written a dissertation will agree that during the writing and editing process, they could have done with more words.

In the overall scope of things, writing a dissertation takes time, organisation, and skills all of which are transferrable skills that will enable you to find work. You have spent weeks in a library trawling through books, and you have spent countless hours analysing data that you collected from a questionnaire you developed. From there you structured your argument accordingly, the introduction, body, and conclusion are methodically worked out, and from there you editing and editing and editing. Do not think that your dissertation is a waste of time, as none of these skills you develop along the road to completion are arbitrary, and they will help you to find employment in your field, another field, or to continue as a postgraduate or research student. Dissertations give you training in research, surveying, analysing, and reviewing, in addition to communication skills such as writing; so I suppose you could say that the process of research and writing a dissertation provides you with positive life skills.

A dissertation is your chance to show those academics how an intelligent you are, and improve your prospects ability of getting a job after you graduate; proofreading services will help you along your way.

What is the real secret to the best voiceover techniques?

I spend plenty of time coaching my voiceover students and trying to find different ways of communicating to each individual the best way for them to deliver an interesting and authentic read. The most important thing for students to know, however, is not the best techniques, the secret tips, the tricks in every voice actor’s toolbox…but this: first developing the person that is reading these scripts. Zen philosophy points to this all the time in its teachings. The way to fully develop your brain’s potential is by giving it a balanced set of information. Being articulate, understanding mathematics, grasping basic physics concepts – all these things surprisingly contribute to other aspects of our brain’s functionality, such as our creativity and problem solving. In the same way that the there is a cloud in a piece of paper (paper comes from trees, trees need rain, rain comes from clouds), everything else has connections we don’t see immediately as well.

Plenty of students want to come in and start reading scripts right away. They expect that regardless of their background that this will be easy as long as they pronounce the words clearly and exude a sense of professionalism. Once again, the whole person is behind that read. The most interesting people give me the most interesting reads. The most closed-off, dare I say ‘boring’ people give boring reads. You can only put out what you have inside you. The bank is no different. You can not take out $100 dollars unless you have put that into your account already. So how can aspiring voice actors access that interesting and creative and well-balanced mind-set tat contributes to phenomenal voiceover technique? Go to a museum and take a journal with you. Write down what you are feeling about each piece of art you experience. Go into the kitchen and cook something new without a recipe. Just use what you already have and see where it leads you. Play with some play dough. Yeah, that’s right. Finding your inner child works, because a child innately has something we have lost – creativity through play.

Once you begin to play, you begin to create, and you start to “replenish the well”. You now have something to “dip in to” when you are performing. You are now doing more than just reading words on paper (the cardinal sin of voiceover performances). You are now bringing something to the party.

Today the job market is tough and tomorrow it will be even more difficult. Employers are demanding an educated work force and most will, if not already, require a minimum of a Bachelors degree. If you have CEO aspirations, you better go for a masters degree. It is now more important than ever that you get serious and graduate with a high grade point average and attain a college degree. Employers don’t want to hear excuses and they are correct. You have a plethora of resources available to you. Government grants, financial aid, low interest student loan programs and tutors for all academic levels and school subjects. Make the most of them and show employers you are a go getter.

Your career, future, and current or future family depend on the effort you put forth and decisions you make in your teens and college years. If you have put forth the effort to graduate with good grades and are close but still struggling in a subject, a tutor that specializes in the subject that challenges you may be all you need. It’s an investment in your future.

As mentioned, tutors are available for just about every subject taught on all levels of education. Tutors for basic math, algebra, calculus and trig. Language tutors for English, Spanish, Chinese, Russian and other languages. Chemistry and medical tutors, computer sciences, law, finance and so on.

Whatever the subject, be it math, science, a language or medical class, law, finance or another subject, since you are struggling in a subject, you need dedicated one on one teaching in a different atmosphere from someone that understands you, your needs and the subject at hand. You may also need to hear the same material from a different teacher. Let’s face it, some teachers or professors just don’t deliver or hold your interest. We are more apt to learn a subject if a teacher, or tutor, can hold our interest and make that subject more interesting to us.

WHAT TO LOOK FOR IN A TUTOR

Hire an experienced tutor. We aren’t talking age here. Some students are as knowledgeable as their teachers. Do your homework and check credentials. Are they certified or licensed? If they are a student, do they have references from a teacher or past clients?

Is the tutor available to work around your schedule? Are they available days, evenings, weekends? Do they have reliable transportation and will he or she show up on time? Call their references and verify that they can stick to a schedule. A tutor that comes with verified references is highly recommended.

Playground Equipment

Children make and are the heart of any nursery or school environment. The playground equipment we can bring into the school environment nowadays to develop imagination and education is truly amazing. Why not develop your school even further by taking a look at some playground equipment. By playground equipment we don’t mean just a swing, slide, marbles or hopscotch. The range on the market these days is fantastic to feed imagination along with develop each child’s individual needs in many different ways.

Slides, Swings, Springers and More

Playtime is a great time for children to let off some steam, get some fresh air and get some physical exercise. With playground equipment you can help them do all of these things whether it be a small piece of equipment such as a target like basketball nets and number targets or a full range of equipment like trim trails which are fantastic timber structures which may be purchased as a single item and added to, to make a full circuit. Each piece of trim trail develops strength, co-ordination, and all round physical ability for any age. Balancing beams, monkey bars, bridges, steps and scrabble nets can all be seen in the trim trail range of playground equipment.

Playground Markings

Jumping, running, balancing, hopping, counting and reading. Playground markings are a fantastic addition to any playground area. For maximum impact we always recommend solid versions of our markings. Explore the many playground markings available.

Safety Surface

Although not necessary to have with some playground equipment, safety surfaces are worth a look at. Not only are they good to add extra colour and fantasy to the playground, you are also ensuring each child is extra safe in your care and supervision. Safety surfaces come in all shapes, sizes and designs. You can choose to have some colour, a game or a picture designed onto the ground creating more opportunities for the children to develop. Purchasing some Playground equipment can help any school reach necessary targets set by the government and with the flexibility of either buying small pieces and adding to them or choosing a large range and spreading the cost. They both help with the set budgets schools have to work with. Most children’s favourite time of the day is playtime, Imagine how they would feel if the school playground was transformed into a world to feed imagination along with ensuring they have the best of the best at your school not only in an educational way but in a fun way too!
